We can meet you at your choice of location anywhere in Northern France. You may wish to be met at a Paris Hotel, or perhaps you would prefer for us to be waiting for at the arrivals gate at Paris CDG airport for the arrival of your flight. We will then drive you to your accommodation within the heart of the D-Day Battlefields. All transportation is undertaken in a spacious, comfortable, air-conditioned, licensed and safety checked vehicle. Depending on your time of arrival you may want to break up the journey and stop off en-route and have a bite to eat, maybe in the beautiful medieval port town of Honfleur. An alternative may be to visit the impressive Caen Memorial museum.
On arrival at your accommodation you shall have time to relax and freshen up before you are driven to a recommended local restaurant for dinner (a shuttle service to and from local restaurants for every night of your stay is included in the tour fee).
Breakfast shall be served at your requested time before your battlefield tour commences in earnest as Stuart gives you an introductory talk as to both the geography and history relating to your tour. Armed with this introduction you shall then make a visit to the famous town of Ste Mere Eglise which featured so much in the classic war movie The Longest Day.
After Ste Mere Eglise we will head toward Utah Beach, a journey which will take you to some of the lesser known places within the Bocage Hedgerow country. Brecourt, Ravenoville, Foucarville, St Martin de Varreville, La Fiere, Les Mezieres, Neuville au Plain and Angoville au Plain - this is where the American paratroopers secured the area behind Utah Beach as portrayed by HBO's Band of Brothers. These places are driven past by many but visited only by a few. All have amazing stories as part of their D-Day history. Your expert guide, having met veterans who fought in these small villages, including men of Easy Company of the 506 PIR, will tell you exactly what happened here as told to him by the men who were there.
Having arrived at Utah Beach, Stuart will tell you the story of the beach assault and the advance of the 4th Infantry Division as they moved inland. The excellent Utah Beach museum shall be visited before you are driven back to your accommodation in time to freshen up before dinner.
